Hand woven in North Punjab sometime before partition in 1947 ...Pristine in colour and condition .They are no longer produced !
Khes throws are intricately patterned, double sided handwoven cotton throws .They had multiple purposes in a traditional Punjabi household . Often part of a brides trousseau ,used for 'best' to lay out on a divan if visitors came but also as a shawl in cooler weather . All hand woven in villages along the Indus valley by experienced weavers and were rightly prized for their complex design .
I bought these beautiful textiles from a collection whose family were originally from Pakistan .They are all Vintage pieces and for the most part are in extremely good condition .They should be hand washed only and laid out to dry .
